WHAT DO BANQUET COOKS DO? Reads and understands Prep Lists and adheres to timetables Sets up and maintains a sanitized workstation with ingredients, cooking utensils, and equipment Ensures all food that exits the kitchen is presented in a professional and creative manner Assists with training staff on basic culinary techniques to produce quality food Practices food safety and sanitation in accordance with Boise Centre Standards, Local, State, and Federal laws Prepares ingredients by following standardized recipes to ensure food quality Prepares food amounts to meet projected meal requirements and minimize waste of food items Assists and performs in all areas of the kitchen, as needed Cooks food with various utensils and equipment (grills, ovens, mixers, etc.
) Monitors food while cooking and baking to stir or turn Ensures cooking and baking equipment is clean, sanitized, and maintained Evaluates prepared food for presentation, including flavor, appearance and temperature Assists with inventory management, food rotation and provides input to the quality of products used Keeps current with culinary and seasonal trends, service, and presentation styles Participates in department, company, industry and trade related professional organizations and training Performs a variety of related tasks and duties as assigned REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
A minimum of two years culinary and/or baking experience, required Must be willing to complete Idaho Food Handlers Permit (free online at https:
//foodsafetyexams.

idaho.
gov/), or already possess a ServSafe certification Knowledge of basic kitchen functions, temperature control and baking Skilled in using a knife and understand knife techniques and safety Ability to work in a high-stress, high-volume work environment with the team Provides timely and thorough customer service to internal and external customers Interacts professionally and effectively with others Regular and reliable work attendance at scheduled time on-site PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, safely operate equipment and exposure to food grade chemicals, and withstand hot steamy room for long periods of time Good peripheral vision and dexterous with both hands Frequently will:
